for everyone
1/10/08 found me wandering around a local Nature Preserve, then back home looking out my own back door (and finding the inspiration for this week's Picture Perfect)

As usual, more details can be found by clicking on each photo.

I've never seen this many all opened at once. I really like them in the b&w. So immense and intense.

And a U2 one ;-)

They've seen a lot huh? I like to reflect on what the great Sequoias and Redwoods have seen. When they talk about how they've been around since the Pharaohs!

Visiting the same place each season to see how it changes, there's nothing like it to give me a sense of place.

oops. Im not sure what I clicked here, but I definitely left my mark on this one. Nice fungus. are those teeth on the fungus or are they pores that broke up? Could be a few different species.
ladymindy wrote on Jan 11
Ahhhh!!!!! looks like what they called polyporous versicolor in my day, of course the latin name changed since I studies fungi many many years go. More recent names are Trametes versicolor or Coriolus versicolor/ These are quite old, and the tops have algae on them. The bottoms pores have broken down so they don't look regular at all I am sure.

It looks like a hair under a microscope, or in the upper right, the mandible of an insect.
