Funny how some of the same scenery looks so drab this month. I think I'm missing those golden slanty rays of autumn. Here in New England, we have an abundance of browns, rusty colors, some olive, and tans... we're a little short on much else.
Today was the first day in a while that I've seen even a splash of blue, albeit a little disguised as purple and grey.
Anyway, the first three shots are of this weekend - just some happenings around camp... the last few are from today, a stop at a nearby lake where I was laughed at by some geese - and then some "foliage" from my neighborhood.

Just think of the contrast between the gray/brown days of January make the green days of Spring look so awesome. Also, I like to call the days of Winter "the days of discovery". What is hidden by all of the greenery in warmer weather suddenly can be seen as the greenery goes away. I think about that a lot as I ride the forest on a Winter day.
Haha. When I saw this image as a thumbnail I thought this was a full-sized pool table and was like holy CRAP look at the size of that cat! Then I thought "Don't be stupid, it's obviously some trick photography or something." Now I get it. I of course ignored completely how monstrous Matt's (presumably Matt) hands would have been in relation, as well. I'm apparently a little slow on Mondays.
Heyyyy .. look! A dramatic sky! I like this shot, Jaime. I'm a PS ho so I'd probably futz around with hand-dodging and burning, but I love the layers here. It's the makings of what all the photography books describe as the perfect landscape shot: 3 planes - foreground, mid-ground and background. And I'm a huge fan of dark features against the lightness of snow and ice. This, to me, could easily be a framed and hung in a room.
That is a fantastic pic! Love it!
Squirrel proof birdfeeder? Skunk proof? WTH? Never seen anything like that.
As I mentioned earlier, I really really like this image. Were you down low for these shots, or are these really tall, or both? The tones are excellent and the feeling of freedom is really appealing.
Ha Ha Kippy! I thought the same thing...LOL!!! All I noticed was the giant cat!
Ohhh, pretty! And why were the Geese laughing? Hmmmm....
That house. Right there on the right. I want to live there.
I loooove the cropping on this. I would hang this on my wall in a minute. In fact, it remind me of the moment, in college, that my artwork changed forever and became better. This is so awesome. Maybe I'll blog about that moment at some point. It really was a huge turning point, and this image illustrates it perfectly. Would you mind if I referred back to it, if I decide to blog about that day?
Is that a hockey net? do they really play hockey on that? Wow.
Neat sky. cool Pic. I love when you go to B & W. Love B&W photography.
Totally dig this pic. I noticed it earlier in your header. Very Cool. I would like to blow in the wind like that.
I love trees. I would like to climb this tree. love how you captured it, and as Kippy said, love the cropping of it.
This pic is really quite extraordinary. You should enter some of your photos into a million dollar prize contest or something.
Squirrel proof or Bing proof?
I love the light play.....the mood of this one so much!!! What kind of nest is that?
Awww, how sweet, Matt got the cats a pool table now and entertains them with it!!!
Cool shot, I love the ripples in front. Our geese all left ummm.......right after Halloween. (They are apparently in CT and south laughing at those of us still here!!!)
Beautiful shot!!! I love the break in the clouds and the feel of it....definitely January in New England!!!
This is so amazing, the clouds look like they're moving and the water looks like it froze mid wave. Very cool shot!!!
You do B&W so well, and this just is one of your best!!! I love the grays ;-). This is just wonderful Jaime!!!! It FEELS January.
I love grasses so these against the blue and white marbled clouds, fantastic!!!
It looks like they're soft and fuzzy......great detail!!!
The mood of this just fascinates me......a thousand plus words spring to mind.
We're still waiting for some of that blue here. Hopeful shot......the blue will be back.
I love how the branches look curled and gnarled...the knots......phenomenal.
lol, this is the "squirrel proof" feeder that Matt won at his Christmas party from CIA bill. So far, it's proven to be bird proof as well.
| I love how all the secret nests become exposed in the winter. I don't know what kind this is... we have a million crows, but all kinds of song birds too. Cardinals, Blue Jays... brown things, different brown things. :)
I think it might be abandoned actually. |
| lol, Susan... if you've never heard a goose "honk"... or quack, when they do it REALLY sounds like they're laughing.
At least, these did. Maybe I have a goose complex. |
T'is a hockey net. They play when it's frozen... a few days ago when it was sub zero is my guess. It has quite suddenly warmed to 50+. I think the goal is a treasure headed for the bottom.
Love allll these! Can I borrow some of your talent, just for a day?!
I really like # 11, its' so simple yet detailed enough to keep your eyes looking for a long time.
woo hes playin gpool huh..such a clever cat...hugglex

Pretty! It's been pushing 70 for the past two days here. I'd forgotten how pretty ice and snow can be.
Um, yeah...that's scary as hell.
Whoa, I have a picture almost identical to this, taken at night...now maybe I should just go and read those directions you sent me on how to imbed, and if I was smart I would post my version here...brb
Beautiful image. Love the light and motion.
There are my duckgeese! Love it!
